Xingping farmer painting began in 1974, and over 30 peasant painters insistded on creating. In 2003, Xingping Farmer Calligrapher and Painter Association was established. The paintings have been exhibited abroad many times with representative artists, including Du Junhu, Mu Hairong, Zhao Liping, and Lai Hongmei. Xingping farmer paintings are simple in style and prominent in modeling. The theme is close to life, reflecting characteristics of the times and the region. The painting form is exaggerated and adjusted; images are naive and simple, and color contrast is brilliant and colorful.
